Outdoor Catering Tips for Lawns, Farmhouses & Rooftop Events
Outdoor venues need a different planning checklist than a banquet hall β here's what actually matters once you take catering outside.

Plan for weather, not just the season
Even in a dry season, have a covered fallback for the food stations and live counters β a sudden dust storm or drizzle shouldn't stop service.
Check the venue's power and water access
Live counters, especially tandoor and wok stations, need reliable power and water nearby β confirm this with the farmhouse, lawn or rooftop venue before finalising counters.
Account for ground surface under stations
Grass, gravel or uneven ground can make it harder to set up chafing dishes and live counter equipment safely β flag your exact surface type to your caterer in advance.
Time service around daylight and temperature
For daytime lawn functions, plan food service around the coolest hours; for evening rooftop events, confirm adequate lighting at each station.
Confirm guest flow and station spacing
Outdoor spaces are often wider and less defined than banquet halls β walk the layout with your caterer so live counters and buffet lines don't create awkward guest flow or long walks.
Ask about backup equipment
Outdoor events are harder to recover from mid-event equipment issues than indoor ones β check that your caterer carries backup gas/equipment for outdoor setups.

Frequently asked questions
Do you cater farmhouse and lawn weddings, not just banquet halls?+
Yes β we regularly cater lawns, farmhouses and rooftop venues across Delhi NCR, alongside indoor banquet functions.
What happens if it rains during an outdoor event?+
We plan a covered fallback for food stations and live counters wherever possible β discuss your venue's covered-space options with us in advance so there's a clear backup plan.
Can live counters run at an outdoor venue without a kitchen nearby?+
Yes, live counters are designed to run as standalone stations with their own equipment β we just need confirmed power/water access and enough space at the venue.
Is outdoor catering more expensive than indoor catering?+
Not inherently β our per-plate rates are the same; any extra cost usually comes from additional equipment needs (generators, extra tenting for stations) specific to a particular venue, which we'll flag upfront.
How do you handle very large outdoor guest counts?+
The same staffing math applies as any large event β roughly 1 chef per 120 guests and 1 service staff per 35 guests β with extra attention to station spacing and guest flow given more open layouts.
